Begin with the phone, not the chair
Choose a firm surface where the phone will not slide, vibrate toward an edge, or need to be held. The app uses stillness to begin and movement to reveal controls, so a stable base makes the session feel intentional.
Find your natural viewing line
Place the phone near a comfortable eye level or slightly below it. Adjust your seat and support before starting. If you must lift your chin, round your back, lean forward, or squint, change the setup rather than asking your body to tolerate it.
Let distance be personal
There is no universal phone distance. Screen size, vision correction, brightness, and posture all matter. Move the device far enough away that it does not dominate your visual field, but close enough that the flame remains easy to see. Comfort is the test.
Use darkness sparingly
A darker room makes the flame visually prominent, but complete darkness can increase contrast and make moving around less safe. Use low, indirect ambient light and moderate screen brightness. Avoid glare on the display.
Reduce interruptions before Start
Choose a short window when you are unlikely to need the phone. On supported Android devices, Tratak can use optional Do Not Disturb access during a session; otherwise use your device’s own Focus or notification controls. Never silence communications you must monitor for safety.
Keep the ending accessible
You never need to remain still to “protect” the session. Tap or pick up the phone to reveal the live timer and Stop. End whenever you choose. If discomfort appears, stop first and interpret later.
